Choosing your own domain name is an important decision for every webmaster. A carefully selected domain name helps to build credibility and indicates your level of professionalism. Web users associate a carefully selected domain name with high quality product branding, excellent service, a successful business or even a trustworthy person.

I have provided several factors to keep in mind as you select an appropriate domain name. Please remember that domain selection is not an exact science. Many successful websites have ignored the accepted rules and still prospered.

Topic of the website? – a website that reflect the topic will be easier to find

Website objective? – professionalism will be reflected in the name, is this a hobby or a business?

Set a tone - Will this site be funny, insightful, and/or newsy?

Who is the intended audience? – Does your name appeal to the people you wish to attract?

Choosing an appropriate domain name will certainly contribute toward the successful launch of your new website.

   I usually try and get a great high traffic keyword as my domain because that makes it easier to SEO to that term.

   Nice Tips. Thanx for sharing these tips. However can you please tell what do you think about the free domains, The domains like .co.cc. Do they affect on your ranking and SEO? I mean in also become a part of your domain. Like blogspot domain is a free domain and it becomes a part of the name of your blog. What do you think about this affect in domain names
